International Activities
In addition to various development projects, LDT faculty and students also conduct research internationally and present at leading conferences. Several students interned at our collaborative organizations around the world: China, India, UAE, Portugal, and Mexico.

Currently, LDT faculty, students, and alums are presenting annually at IEEE's TALE and iLRN conferences.
We continue to collaborate with scholars worldwide in research and development projects.

Nava Amoona, a current LDT grad, is working on a multimedia project for IEEE's Technical Committee on Immersive Learning, which has many members from around the world.

LDT Faculty chaired the Special track on XR and Immersive Learning; Two students--Brad McCombs and Maureen Rymer--, also traveled to Wollongong and presented their team’s research paper.

2018 Intelligent Environments Conference in Rome:
Faculty (Wang) chaired a special track and also presented with an alumnus--Julia Leeson
2017 MJ Wang gave a keynote address at the Immersive Learning Research Network conference (iLRN) in Coimbra, Portugal.
During the same trip, she also spoke at a leading educational forum in Lisbon and presented at the University of Porto on MOOCs and the future of learning.

2016 Faculty (Wang) gave an invited keynote address at a computer science and education conference at the University of Essex, U.K.

2016 Intelligent Environments Conference in Prague: LDT Faculty chaired a special track. A team of students (Mary De Lepe, Lizbeth A. Cazarez, Yun Zhang) also presented their research paper.

In the Summer of 2016, Mary De Lepe and MJ presented at an education conference in Greece.
From 2007-2014, LDT Faculty taught summer classes in Micronesia, including the Republic of Palau. Students were K-12 teachers who were passionate about using technology in teaching.

LDTech faculty, students, and alums also participated in two NSF-funded grant programs (ending in 2022) in collaboration with SDSU's Department of Geography. As a Co-PI, Dr. Wang and her grad assistants conducted outreach workshops for K-12 teachers in California and Guizhou province of China and published papers from this experience.
LDT students also carried out internal evaluations for the first round of this grant.
The second round of the grant involves two alums who work in the school districts of San Diego county.
